Dewalt Recalls DG2900 Gas Generator.

Heavy Duty DG2900 Gas Generator

Just a heads up, Dewalt is calling a Gas Generator for repair, their Heavy-Duty 2900 Watt Gas Generator. Apparently there is a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt ) that hasn’t been functioning properly, which creates a potential risk for shock or shorting out.

On the picture above you can see how to identify your generator if your model is affected. The recall has to do with this specific model Gas Generator manufactured between December 12, 2001 (date code 200150DG) through August 30, 2006 (date code 200635DG). Another note from Dewalt is that Units stamped with an “R” (Reconditioned) or product cartons labeled with a round green sticker are not affected by the recall.

I always wondered how many people actually got warned about this. I took my 1990 Buick to the dealer at one time to get a diagnostics run. The repair tech told me that Buick had recalled the seatbelts due to a failure in the locking mechanism well over 2 years ago, I had never heard about the recall and had been driving around with defective seatbelts.

With a recall like that its more of a serious issue, I don’t know how worried I would be about a GFCI, but either way, if people don’t register their products how will they ever find out?
